Fall Prevention

CNC Boot Camp

CNC Boot camp! Sponsored by the Gene Haas Foundation
Day 1: Students learn to interpret engineering drawings and accurately measure manufactured parts using common precision measuring instruments. By the end of the day, participants will be able to read basic mechanical prints, identify tolerances, and verify dimensions using industry-standard tools, like calipers and micrometers.
Day 2 & 3: Students learn basic setup and safe operation of CNC vertical machining centers. Participants will read programs, set work and tool offsets, load tooling, simulate machining operations, and manufacture a simple project.
Day 4 & 5: Students learn basic setup and safe operation of CNC turning centers. Participants will read programs, set work and tool offsets, understand tools and turrets, simulate turning operations, and produce a simple lathe project.
